July 1, 2009

– Breaking Ground on the Full-Service Emergency Response Facility Locating in Madison Medical Park
HEMSI employees and board members welcomed elected leaders and special guests at the groundbreaking ceremonies for the new HEMSI Madison Station. The new 5000 square-foot emergency response facility will house up to 6 vehicles/equipment trailers and have capacity for two full crews -- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The new station will replace rental facilities currently located at Capshaw and Wall Triana and will continue servicing the current call volume of 250+ calls per month in the northern Madison area. HEMSI expects to increase service to meet growing needs associated with additional medical facilities and the new Madison Hospital.
HEMSI CEO Jon Howell said, "We are extremely pleased to be working in cooperation with Huntsville Hospital to establish the new permanent station in Madison Medical Park to expand our service to the Madison area. HEMSI will continue to enhance services and operations to meet the increased needs -- in Madison and all of Madison County." Madison Mayor Paul Finley said, "The City of Madison is very pleased to have a new permanent station for HEMSI going into Madison Medical Park. We appreciate the outstanding emergency service we already enjoy from HEMSI, and know that same standard of service will continue through this and other expansions in the future."
HEMSI Board President Stanley Chapman added, "We have been embedded in the Madison community for many years now. We are looking forward to putting down permanent roots."
